Uhai Lake Forum and Paralegal Society of Kenya Empower Paralegals to Support Women and PWDs in Access to Justice

On September 27th, 2025, Uhai Lake Forum, in partnership with the Paralegal Society of Kenya (PSK), successfully completed a comprehensive three-phase training for community paralegals. This initiative equipped paralegals with essential skills to assist women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in accessing justice more effectively.

The training is part of the "Access to Justice for Women and PWDs in Kisumu County" under the PLEAD II project, generously supported by the European Union in Kenya and UNDP Kenya through the Amkeni Wakenya Civil Society Democratic Governance Facility. By building the capacity of local paralegals, the program aims to open more safe spaces for legal aid services, foster peaceful coexistence, and enhance the articulation of legal rights within communities.

The newly trained paralegals now have the skills to provide critical support, ensuring women and PWDs can navigate the justice system with confidence and dignity. Congratulations to all comrades who completed the training—participants are now eligible to register with PSK as they continue to practice their vital role in promoting access to justice.

Nyando Social Justice Center applauds this important milestone and looks forward to the positive impact these empowered paralegals will bring to Kisumu County’s justice landscape. Together, we are advancing justice and equality for all community members.
