NSJC Participates in Community Pharmacy Model Review in Naivasha

On the 14th and 15th of October 2025, Caren Wambui represented the Community Pharmacy Model Champions at a review meeting held in Naivasha. This meeting brought together key stakeholders involved in one of the five differentiated service delivery (DSD) models designed to better serve Recipients of Care (ROC) in Kenya’s health system.

The Community Pharmacy Model is a client-centered approach that tailors health services to suit the needs of individual patients by leveraging community pharmacies as accessible points of care. This model enhances convenience, privacy, and adherence to treatment, especially for chronic conditions like HIV.

The review meeting focused on assessing progress, sharing best practices, and identifying opportunities to scale and improve the model's effectiveness nationwide. The Community Pharmacy Model is proving to be a vital component in Kenya’s effort to provide differentiated, quality healthcare that meets patients where they are.

Nyando Social Justice Center remains committed to supporting innovative health service delivery models that improve access and outcomes for communities across Kisumu and beyond. Participation in such national-level forums ensures that local experiences and perspectives help shape Kenya’s evolving healthcare landscape.

Together, we are advancing patient-centered care for stronger, healthier communities.
