NSJC Engages Community on Environmental and Security Issues

On October 10th, Nyando Social Justice Center joined the community in commemorating an important day with tree planting activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation. This initiative underscored the collective responsibility to safeguard our natural surroundings for current and future generations.

Following the tree planting, the team attended a Baraza organized by the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) at Kodete. The Baraza served as a vital platform to sensitize the community on the importance of environmental protection. It also addressed pressing security concerns affecting the area.

During the Baraza, Nyando Social Justice Center was given the opportunity to raise awareness about a disturbing rise in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases within Nyando Sub-County. This critical issue remains a challenge to community safety and well-being, calling for intensified efforts in prevention, support, and justice for survivors.

These engagements highlight Nyando Social Justice Center’s holistic approach to community empowerment—addressing environmental sustainability alongside urgent social and security matters. Together with local leaders and residents, the center continues to advocate for safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.

Protecting the environment and championing safety are shared duties—Nyando Social Justice Center remains committed to both.
