On November 11th, 2025, Nyando Social Justice Center actively engaged religious leaders in a crucial dialogue on stigma and discrimination related to multiple health challenges, including HIV, tuberculosis (TB), malaria, monkeypox (Mpox), and COVID-19. Recognizing the important role faith leaders play in shaping community attitudes and behaviors, the session aimed to equip them with knowledge to combat stigma and promote empathy and support for affected individuals.
Discussions focused on understanding the root causes of stigma, its negative impact on health-seeking behaviors, and practical ways to support survivors and patients. The leaders were also informed about the available avenues for reporting instances of discrimination, emphasizing collective responsibility in creating safe and inclusive communities.
Religious leaders committed to using their influential platforms to deliver accurate information, reduce misinformation, and foster acceptance and care within their congregations. This engagement aligns with national efforts in Kenya to leverage faith-based leadership in public health advocacy and stigma reduction.
Nyando Social Justice Center values this collaboration with religious communities as a cornerstone in advancing holistic health and human dignity.
Together, we stand united against stigma and discrimination to build healthier, more compassionate societies.
