On June 9th, 2025, Kisumu County hosted a pivotal Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) start-up meeting, bringing together key stakeholders committed to enhancing grassroots accountability in health service delivery. The session was officially opened by the County Director of Health, Dr. Fred Oluoch, who underscored the critical role of community voice and data in shaping responsive and effective healthcare systems.
Empowering Communities for Better Health Outcomes
This important initiative, supported by the Global Fund through Amref Health Africa as the Principal Recipient, with Organizational and Local Partners (OLPs) serving as Sub Recipients, aims to empower communities to actively participate in monitoring health services. Through the CLM process, community members are equipped to identify service gaps, provide constructive feedback, and advocate for improvements in TB, HIV, and other essential health services within Kisumu County.
A Collaborative Approach to Health Service Improvement
The meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, including government officials, health workers, civil society organizations, and community representatives. By fostering transparent communication and accountability, the CLM initiative seeks to ensure that health services are more responsive to the needs of the people they serve.
Nyando Social Justice Center is proud to support and participate in this transformative initiative. We believe that empowering communities through monitoring and advocacy is key to achieving equitable and quality healthcare for all. As the CLM process unfolds, we remain committed to working alongside partners and community members to drive positive change in Kisumu County's health sector.
