Celebrating Community Health Leadership: Kisumu Advocates and Arasa Alumni Complete Monitoring Training

On July 9, 2025, Kisumu Community Health Advocates and Arasa Alumni attended a community-led monitoring training; a significant milestone in their ongoing journey of grassroots health leadership. This remarkable group was first trained eight years ago as community health advocates, thanks to the support of Arasa and close collaboration with Kelin Lwala and Keswa.

Since their initial training, these advocates have served the Kisumu community with unwavering consistency, integrity, and passion. The knowledge and skills they gained became a powerful investment, enabling them to excel in diverse roles—from advocacy and education to direct service delivery. Their work has continued to impact lives and shape health responses at the grassroots level, demonstrating the profound value of empowering local leaders.

What truly stood out was how this team transformed their knowledge capital into sustained action, championing better health outcomes and strengthening community resilience. Their journey has been a testament to the enduring power of community empowerment and the long-term benefits of investing in local leadership.

As they completed this new phase of community-led monitoring training, Nyando Social Justice Center celebrated their achievements and ongoing commitment to health advocacy in Kisumu County. Their story continues to inspire us all to believe in the transformative potential of dedicated, locally driven leadership.
